Im a guy and my hairs less then an inch long. would a hair straightner work with hair this short? And if so know any good hair straightners? i heard somthin about the CHI hair straightner...hmm

I have thick african american hair. I bought a $20.00 conair iron last month and it got my hair straight, but my hair didn't move. Now i want to get either the conair infiniti, or the generic CHI, which is exactly like the real one, just cheaper. Which one will give me the silky results that I want? I'm going to use CHI Silk Infusion with whatever one i end up getting. Can anyone give me instructions on how to use this stuff? do i have to put it on before i blowdry AND before I flat iron? I know not to put it near my roots, but i dont want to falt iron my roots without putting a heat protectant on them because i'm afraid they are going to get burnt.

i have a conair and it sucks but i want to straighten my hair and i was wondering if a chi will keep it straight for longer, and make it not be as frizzy

I have naturally straight hair with maybe two LONGGG waves is a whole strand (its pretty long, almost to my hips.) I wanna start curling my hair once in a while, sometimes wavy, sometimes really curly like this:

I heard on YouTube from one girl that you can curl your hair using a straightening iron? I like the idea of straightening irons better, I had this curling iron that was weird and had like bristles on it, and my hair got stuck in it.

So yah.....
Well I actually might straighten it once in a while, if I want it stick-straight..
Can you make all different styles using a curling iron, or can that only work with a straightener?
