What happens when I plug a Chi iron with only 25 watts into a converter made for appliances over 500 watts?

I have moved to South Korea, and I want to use my Chi iron. My converter says not to use with any appliances under 500 watts, but it doesn't say why. Will the iron just get extremely hot? If so, can I just turn it off and on to lower the heat?

I have a Chi hair-straightener. I am visiting Japan. Do I need a volt convertor or just the plug adapter?

I am not sure what the voltage is.

I am pretty sure I need the plug adapter so my blow dryer, straightener, and charger can can fit into the Japan outlet sockets. I am not sure if I need to buy the convertor though. The convertor is expensive! Please help!
I am from the U.S.
I will not be in the hotels, I will be with a host family in Machida, Japan.

Where can I find a CHI straightening iron with an original plug(not the reset plug)?
