I have thick african american hair. I bought a $20.00 conair iron last month and it got my hair straight, but my hair didn't move. Now i want to get either the conair infiniti, or the generic CHI, which is exactly like the real one, just cheaper. Which one will give me the silky results that I want? I'm going to use CHI Silk Infusion with whatever one i end up getting. Can anyone give me instructions on how to use this stuff? do i have to put it on before i blowdry AND before I flat iron? I know not to put it near my roots, but i dont want to falt iron my roots without putting a heat protectant on them because i'm afraid they are going to get burnt.

i have a conair and it sucks but i want to straighten my hair and i was wondering if a chi will keep it straight for longer, and make it not be as frizzy
