I have had this flat iron for going on 5 years. If you have really thick frizzy course hair, this flat iron is for you! It has left my hair shiny and silky, and everybody always compliments me on how healthy my hair looks. I have tried those cheap $30 flat irons from walmart and they just don’t do the job. I have also dropped this flat iron on the floor multiple times, but it still works! I have tried other upscale flat irons, such as Solia, but CHI is definitely my favorite.

I am pretty sure this is the model I have because the exterior looks the same. I love this straightener. I first used it at my hair salon and the next year in my cosmetology class, these straighteners were pulled out for the customers that would come in. Honestly, I feel they work a whole lot better then any other straightener I’ve used. It straightens my hair well and my hair hardly ever goes frizzy through out any of the humid conditions. It has a nice barrel for creating beautiful curls (I hardly ever use a curling iron anymore). I’ve had my straightener for probably 6 or so years now and it still works perfectly fine. I tried switching to another one that I got for $100 and I just went back to my chi. Like I said, I love it.

Maybe I was mesmerized by the high price tag into buying the Chi thinking: “You get what you pay for.” Definitely not the case here. From my experience, this is your garden-variety hair straightener wrapped in a lot of hype. I’ve had this for two months and honestly don’t see or feel a difference from my $30 straightener. In fact, I did a test, straightening one side with the Chi and the other with my old straightener (I was going to use it as a backup to the Chi) and it looked exactly the same. And after two months, I notice no difference with the level of damage to my hair, or in how long my hair stays straight. I think Chi needs to catch up with their technology, it is on par with the cheaper models on the market.
